Every Song Starts With a Story. Here Is Mine.

I'm Michael James—a songwriter, producer, husband, and father of four. At 57, I'm turning a lifetime of experiences into music and discovering how a personal story can become a shared one.

I spent my first 26 years in Yonkers, New York, where my grandparents raised their family and friendships became lifelong bonds. Football taught me discipline, trust, and the importance of showing up for others.

I live in North Carolina today, but Yonkers will always be part of my DNA. Seeing people reconnect through “Raised in the City of Hills” has made this journey especially meaningful.

At the center of my life is my wife, Tamara. More than three decades together, 30 years of marriage, and four children give meaning to the songs I write about love, gratitude, and coming home.

Two knee replacements and a shoulder replacement have also taught me patience and the value of taking the next step. That belief runs through “Built for the Climb” and More to Give.

I develop the stories, write the lyrics, and produce the music using studio software, including AI-generated vocals. I'm the songwriter and producer, not the vocalist.

My goal is to create music people don't just listen to—they feel.
